SPS Commerce Selects RollStream to Expand Trading Partner Onboarding and Supply Chain Collaboration

MCLEAN, Va. and MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., August 18, 2010 - RollStream, and SPS Commerce, a leading provider of on-demand supply chain management solutions, today announced a partnership to help retailers operate more efficiently by RollStream Registration into their community of trading partners and establish their vendor directory as the platform for master data management and ongoing collaboration.

“During SPS’ vendor enablement programs, we interact with many individuals within a vendor’s IT, sales, and logistics departments,” commented Archie Black, president and CEO of SPS Commerce. “As a result of each program, we can help a retailer or distributor to cleanse their vendor master data, augmenting it with a variety of appropriate contacts. With RollStream, this information can become even more valuable. To promote supply chain collaboration, retailers can place these trading partner contacts into a dynamic vendor directory that is similar to profiles used by social networking sites.”

The partnership will also extend the SPSCommerce.net platform to include an online trading partner network that retailers can use to quickly source or identify desirable characteristics for efficient trading, for example, locating vendors that are willing to do drop shipments to individual customers.  Once located in the network, retailers will also be able to engage potential vendors in online sourcing conversations and the exchange of rich multimedia, documentation, or marketing information to speed buying decisions.

The initiative pairs SPS Commerce’s supply chain solutions and RollStream’s community management platform to drive new supply chain efficiencies, improve business performance and ease trading partner collaboration.

“Combining SPS Commerce’s solution with RollStream’s collaboration platform to accelerate the vendor onboarding process is key to increasing revenues for retailers,” said Kristin Muhlner, CEO of RollStream. “By automating the onboarding and vendor discovery process, our joint solution will enable theses processes to be executed with fewer resources, and increase the quality of data captured directly from the vendors.”

RollStream’s Suite of Online Tools tools enables trading partner company profile and eCommerce credential capture, and traceable mass communications.  In addition, RollStream automates critical business-to-business activities such as supplier registration, vendor compliance and risk management, and collaborative dispute resolution. These tools can work in concert with SPS’s multi-tenant SaaS solutions that provide a retailer’s trading partners with an intelligent way to execute orders.  The result is greater functionality, seamless integration and reliability with less cost and risk than traditional software.

Retailers & Manufacturers Quickly Adopt Online Network for CPSIA Compliance

Exchange popularity increases as Consumer Product Safety Commission approves methods to assess up to $100,000 per-violation penalties

Alexandria, VA - May 26, 2010 - More than ten major retailers, representing over $150 billion in chain drug sales, have joined the Certificate Exchange Network (CEN) offered by the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) and RollStream.  The CEN is an online network where retailers and manufacturers can securely post or link to existing product safety certificates to demonstrate compliance with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA).

The CPSIA of 2008 imposes new document sharing requirements regarding product safety testing certificates on certain consumer products. Products covered under the legislation must have paper or electronic certificates of conformance that indicate the products have been tested, do not exceed specific substance levels, and in some cases have been packaged following U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) guidelines.  These products are wide-ranging, and ultimately will include everything from toys to printer cartridges, bandages, over-the-counter medications and prescription medications.

“The Certificate Exchange Network can mean the difference between knowing where the most up-to-date certificates are located when they are needed, and not,” said Rick Cognetti, Vice President, Retail Merchandising at Kinney Drugs.  “So working with Kinney Drug trading partners in the network to avoid governmental fines makes perfect sense.”

On March 16, 2010, the CPSC voted to approve a final rule interpreting factors to be considered when seeking a civil penalty amount for knowing violations of CPSC laws.  As a result of the CPSIA, the maximum penalty for each violation of the Consumer Product Safety Act (CPSA), the Federal Hazardous Substances Act (FHSA), and Flammable Fabrics Act (FFA), increased from $8,000 to $100,000.  Maximum penalty amounts for a related series of violations increased from $1.8 million to $15 million.

“Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, particularly those relating to product safety, is critical to our business,” said Nancy Secours, Senior Director of Supply Chain Operations at Pfizer.  “The zero-install and strong usability, of the NACDS-backed solution made selecting the CEN the logical choice for us.”

NACDS purposely partnered with RollStream to make it easy for their members to directly post GCC’s to the network or provide links to certificates stored on their website.  Also, with a simple, easy-to-use browser interface, retailer members can securely download product certificate needed to demonstrate CPSIA compliance within seconds.  This allows retailers and manufactures to significantly reduce their risk of non-compliance.

To register for the CPSIA Certificate Exchange Network go to: http://www.cpsiainfo.com

The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) represents 154 traditional drug stores, supermarkets, and mass merchants with pharmacies – from regional chains with four stores to national companies. NACDS members also include more than 900 pharmacy and front-end suppliers, and over 70 international members from 24 countries. Chains operate 37,000 pharmacies, and employ more than 2.5 million employees, including 118,000 full-time pharmacists. They fill more than 2.5 billion prescriptions annually, which is more than 72 percent of annual prescriptions in the United States. The total economic impact of all retail stores with pharmacies transcends their $815 billion in annual sales. Every $1 spent in these stores creates a ripple effect of $3.82 in other industries, for a total economic impact of $3.11 trillion, equal to 26 percent of GDP. April 9, 2010

SupplyChainBrain

“The CPSIA may have created new challenges for the supply chain, but it also creates new opportunities.  Companies are now using these new compliance mandates as a way to rethink how they share data, embracing the supply chain as a community where information can be rapidly disseminated and democratized.  Making supply chains social means making them transparent...”

SEEBURGER & RollStream Simplify Trading Partner Community Management

ATLANTA and MCLEAN, Va., June 8 —SEEBURGER Inc. and RollStream Inc. today announced a channel partnership to help large enterprises simplify the management of complex B2B trading communities by automating both the exchange and testing of transactional data, such as purchase orders, and administrative human-to-human processes, such as new supplier/customer registration. The initiative pairs SEEBURGER’s B2B integration and RollStream’s community management platforms to drive new supply chain efficiencies, improve business performance and ease trading partner collaboration.

The combined offering closes a gap in B2B automation related to the standard practice of handling non-transactional partner communications by email, fax and phone. While EDI and associated technologies have enabled system integration for years, interactions such as managing partner master data and executing key enablement programs have remained manual processes. RollStream bridges that gap with a suite of online tools that enable profile and credential capture, robust communications, and important business-to-business activities such as supplier registration, compliance and risk management, and dispute resolution.

These tools complement SEEBURGER offerings ranging from the widely adopted Business Integration Server (BIS) platform for EDI/B2B connectivity to the SEEBURGER RollOut Portal for partner self-serve message testing and certification.

Use of the RollOut Portal shortens onboarding time for automated document exchange from several weeks to several days, and eliminates $15,000 to $20,000 per partner in IT work for the hub organization. Both the BIS platform and the RollOut Portal are available as a software license, under the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, or as a service deployed and managed by SEEBURGER.

“Good management of a trading partner community is a critical factor in optimizing supply chain performance. A recent study by Aberdeen Group, for example, linked best practices in partner management to business benefits such as fast cash conversion cycles, on-time order delivery from suppliers, and on-time order delivery to customers,” said Bill Metallo, Vice President of SEEBURGER Inc. “Enterprises that use our B2B integration solutions with RollStream’s community management platform will take a major step toward improving the collaboration processes that can help achieve these kinds of results.”

“By combining SEEBURGER’s solution with RollStream’s collaboration platform, companies looking to establish more strategic trading partner relationships can now do so at the human layer,” said Pete Plotas, VP of Channels and Partners at RollStream. “Together the two platforms deliver comprehensive trading partner community management and incremental gains in business efficiencies.”
